Missing Bratty, a Very Sweet Dog (2009-2026)

with 2 comments

I hate to have to announce such things as this, because I wish beloved pets could live forever. But my mother’s sweet little dog, Bratty, died earlier today at the age of seventeen-and-a-half.

My mother adopted Bratty when she was only four months old. Bratty had an intermittent seizure disorder, that came and went as it pleased, and my best guess is that not too many people wanted to adopt a dog that would always have seizures.

That did not stop my mother.

She was right, too. Bratty often went months without a seizure. And Bratty was the sweetest little dog I’d ever been around…she had empathy, always knew what I was feeling or my mother was feeling, and she loved us.

We loved her right back.

Our hearts are heavy, here, and are likely to be for quite some time.
